THURS | MAY 15 | OPENING EVENT AT THE JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER *
  • 7:00 pm – Defiant Requiem  – Join us as we open our 20th season with the inspiring documentary of an extraordinary uprising in the concentration camp of Terezin during the Second World War.  Renowned conductor and film participant Murry Sidlin will be our special guest speaker.  Reception follows.  ($10**)

SUN | MAY 18 |  SPECIAL EVENTS | STATE MUSEUM OF PENNSYLVANIA 

  • 2:30 pm – BOOK CLUB FILMGoodbye, Columbus - Join us after the screening to discuss the film and the Philip Roth novella upon which it was based, with Professor Helen Khanzhina
  • 6:30 pm – Reception for Jews in Toons
  • 7:30 pm – Jews in Toons, with special guest, “The Simpsons” writer-producer Mike Reiss

* Subsequent to the opening event at the Jewish Community Center, the festival will take place at the Midtown Cinema.  EXCEPTION:  Sunday, May 18th’s special events will take place at the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

** Ticket prices for Defiant Requiem and Jews in Toons are $10.00.   Matinees at the Midtown are $7.00.  Tickets for all other screenings are $8.00 at the door.  Online ticketing for Midtown screenings may vary.  Cash or check only at the State Museum.
